You can put this solution on YOUR website! 55 boxes are packed in 5 hours, if each hour the packer packs 2 more boxes than the previous hour, how many boxes were packed in the final hour?
:
let n = number of boxes packed the 1st hr, and the next 4 hrs are:
n + (n+2) + (n+4) + (n+6) + (n+8) = 55
Combine like terms
5n + 20 = 55
5n = 55 - 20
n = 35/5
n = 7 boxes in the 1st hr
then
7 + 8 = 15 boxes in the final hr
