You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Assume that J is John's age and E is Emily's age:
E=1.5*J
J=%28E%29%2F%281.5%29
J=%289%29%2F%281.5%29
J=6
John is 6 years old

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
emily is one and a half times older than john. emily is nine how old is john
---------------
1.5 times older = 2.5 times as old
John's age = 9/2.5
= 3.6
====================
"times older" is not the same as "times as old"
If she's 0.5 times, or 50%, older, is she half his age? If so, she's not older at all.
The 2 terms are not interchangeable, they don't mean the same thing.
