AB/BC=BC/BD Reason: Corresponding proportional sides. Step 7. BC^2=AB X BD Reason: Multiplication property. I don't know if this will help in determining what these two steps are called but I have found that: In triangle ABC, angle ACB is a right angle, segment CD is perpendicular to segment AB, angle CDB is a right angle, angle ACB is congruent to angle CDB, angle B is congruent to angle B.
