Note: (4/9)yd = (4/9)(3 ft) = 4/3 ft = (4/3)(12 in) = 16 inches
Equation:
5*(width of a piece) = 16 inches ft

width of a piece = 16/5 inches = 3 1/5 inch

If you want the answer in yds: (4/9)yd /5 = 4/45 yd
