You can put this solution on YOUR website! Janice has 5 sticks of lengths 2,4,6,8, and 10 inches. using three sticks at a time as the sides of triangles, how many triangles can she make? explain?
-------------------
The longest side of a triangle has to be greater than the difference of the other 2 sides, and less than the sum of the other 2.
diff < long side < sum
Not equal to, less than & greater than.
--> the 2 can't be used
=============================
4, 6 & 8 will work
4, 8 & 10
6, 8 & 10
That's all
----------------
It helps to use physical things such as straws to see why this is.
