Question 698182: I was wondering have do you solve this system using elimination
x+y=2 x-y=4 I have tryed to solve it by elimating the variable y after I did that I added the two equations and got 2x=6 then I divided by 2 and I got x=3 for y all I did was put the x value in the equation and then solve but when I put all toghter the answer doesn't equal what the equation says Answer by Alan3354(69443) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! I was wondering have do you solve this system using elimination
x+y=2 x-y=4
----------
x+y=2
x-y=4
--------- Add
2x = 6
x = 3
========
x+y=2
x-y=4
---------- Subtract
2y = -2
y = -1
============
What did you get for y?
You can sub for x to find y, should get y = -1 either way.
