"3 out of 10 coins are dimes" and there are 100 total coins, so there are (3/10)*100 = 300/10 = 30 dimes

Therefore, there are 100 - 30 = 70 nickels

The total value of these 70 nickels is 70*0.05 = 3.50 dollars
