Question 695157: If y varies dirctly as x, and x = 9 when y = 15, find y when x = 33. I think the formula is Y=KX. This is the way I did it.

Y=KX
15=K(9)
15/9=K (divided both sides by 9)
1.667= K

Y=KX
Y=1.667 times 33
y=55.003
Is this done right?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Very good. You did everything correctly.
The only thing I would recommend is that you keep k=15%2F9=5%2F3 instead of decimal number.
When multiplying k=5%2F3 with x=33, you get y=%285%2F3%29%2A33=55.
The slight difference between your answer 55.003 and my answer 55 comes from rounding up the fraction 5%2F3 to 1.667. Keeping everything as fractions, always gives you the correct answers, where decimals might be a little bit off.
