since the problems are both y= than you make them equal to each other. so the first thing to do is write 3x-3=4x. next you subtract 3 from both sides and you get -3=x. to get y, you plug it back in to one of the original equations and y would equal -12.

x = -3
y = 3(-3) - 3 = -9 - 3 = -12
