You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Please help me solve for x for this equation: +y=%28x%2Aa%29%2F%28x%2Bz%29+.
:
Multiply both sides by (x+z) and you have:
y(x+z) = xa
:
Multiply what's inside the brackets by y
yx + yz = xa
:
Subtract yz from both sides:
yx = xa - yz
:
Subtract xa from both sides:
yx - xa = -yz
:
Factor out the x:
x(y-a) = -yz
:
Divide both sides by (y-a)
x = %28%28-yz%29%29%2F%28%28y-a%29%29
:
You can get rid of the negative like this:
x = %28%28-yz%29%29%2F%28-1%28a-y%29%29
:
x = %28%28yz%29%29%2F%28%28a-y%29%29
:
Could you follow this OK?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
+y=%28x%2Aa%29%2F%28x%2Bz%29+
multiply both sides by (x+z)
+y%28x%2Bz%29=%28x%2Aa%29
expand y(x+z)
xy+%2B+yz+=+xa
subtract yz from both sides
and xa from both sides
xy+-+xa+=+-yz
factor out x from the left side
x%28y-a%29+=+-yz
divide both sides by (y-a)
x+=+%28-yz%29+%2F+%28y-a%29 answer
If you multiply the top and bottom of the right side
you get an alternate way to express answer:
x+=+yz+%2F+%28a-y%29 also correct
