Question 69408: I am studying for the compass exam and this is under the "intermediate algebra: rational expressions" category
(unfortunately I don't have the proper symbols for this problem)
r /= (doesn't equal) plus or minus 2,
r2-5r+6 all of this is over r2-4 =?
It gives 5 answers such as r-3 over r+2 (which is the correct answer, but I would appreciate it if I could see the problem worked out step by step so I can do them by myself in the future. Thank you for your help Found 2 solutions by stanbon, tutorcecilia:Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
----------------
Factor to get:
[(r-3)(r-2)] / [(r+2)(r-2)]
Cancel the (r-2) factor which is common to numerator and denominator to get:
= (r-3)/(r+2)
