Hello,
Let's use x & y for the unknowns for the 2 equations:
x + y = 1
4x = 2y
Let's use substitution:
x=1-y
Plug this into the second equation:
4(1-y)=2y
Expand:
4-4y=2y
Add 4y and divide by 6 toget:
y= 4/6 or 2/3
So we know from the first equation:
x= 1/3
Make sense?
