Question 692568: can you please help me solve the following equation
-3m+2(2+2m)=-1
Answer by josh_jordan(263) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The first thing you want to do in order to solve for m, is use the distributive property and multiply the 2 by everything in the parenthesis:
-3m + 2(2 + 2m) = -1 ----> -3m + 4 + 4m = -1
Next, add -3m to 4m, which gives us:
m + 4 = -1
Finally, subtract 4 from both sides of the equation, so that m is by itself on the left, and what m equals, is on the right side:
m = -1 + -4 ----> m = -5
Answer: m = -5
