Question 691181: y = 5 - 3x
3x - y = 8
Rewrite each in Slope intercept form if not already. Then determine whether each pair of equations represents perpendicular lines. (showing steps). Thank you Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! y = 5 - 3x or
y = -3x + 5
AND
3x - y = 8
y = 3x - 8
...
Perpendicular lines have negative inverse/reciprocal slopes.
In this case the slope is -3 and 3, which are not reciprocals;
therefore, these lines are not perpendicular.
