Question 690438: THere are 750 people at a concert. Adult tickets are 45 dollars and kids tickets are 30 dollars. If at the end of the concert there was a total of $27,000 profit. how many adult and how many kid tickets were sold?
I can't set up my equation. I started setting it up like this: 45x +30y = 27,000, but it doesn;t work and I also know that x + y = 750 (X is for adults and y is for kids) Please help me. THanks!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! i solve this by deduction, 45(x+y=750) then, the answer will be 45x+45y=33750, so, 45x+45y=33750=45x+30y=27000,then, 15y=6750,y=450,if x+y=750,hence,x=300 i really hope u can understand my solution.,

What doesn't work? You do have the 2 correct equations:
x + y = 750 ------ y = 750 - x ----- eq (i)
45x + 30y = 27,000
Reducing the above equation we get: 15(3x + 2y) = 15(1,800)
3x + 2y = 1,800 ---- eq (ii)
3x + 2(750 - x) = 1,800 ------ Substituting 750 - x for y in eq (ii)
3x + 1,500 - 2x = 1,800
Determine the value of x, and then find y
