Question 6892: I am trying to find the answer the the following problem.
The book states to find each Quotient.
(2u^3-13u^2-8u+7)/(u-7)
(-11u-8u-7)/(u-7)
(-3u+7)/(u-7)
This is as far as I have gotten.
Thanks in advance.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
divide 2u%5E3-13u%5E2-8u%2B7 by (u-7) using long division, to give 2u%5E2+%2B+u+-+1. This means that:

%282u%5E3-13u%5E2-8u%2B7%29%2F%28u-7%29 can be written as
%28%28u-7%29%282u%5E2%2Bu-1%29%29%2F%28u-7%29
%28%28u-7%29%282u-1%29%28u%2B1%29%29%2F%28u-7%29
%282u-1%29%28u%2B1%29

Now, your attempted answer is so very bad, William that i am nearly at a loss for words, and yet you must be in a fairly advanced stage of your maths studies, to be doing long division of polynomials.

I would have to say that you understand very little of algebra if what you wrote is your true attempt. You need to sit with your teacher and get him/her to TEACH you the basics of algebra.
