Question 6887: i dont under stand how to solve a system of equations for example
y=x+2
y=-2x+2
n how do u graph it?
Answer by glabow(165) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Since these equations are fairly simple, you can graph them by finding two points for each one that satisfy the equation and then draw a line through them.
For y = x + 2 it would go like this:
When x=0, y=2. There's one point -- (0, 2).
When y=0, x must be -2. There's a second point -- (-2, 0).
Draw the line.
You do the same thing with the second equation.
(I hope you get answers of (0,2) and (1,0)!)
Where the two graphed lines cross is a point that is on both lines. This is what a solution is: the same (x, y) is true in both equations.
In this case these lines share the point (0, 2).
