Question 687634: Im working a problem that is not coming out as an answer that my book has listed an an option to choose from.
Show the solution for 2^3x = 5 in terms of natural logorithms.
When I do this problem I get:
ln5
----
3ln2
In my list of choices I have the opposite:
3ln2
----
ln5
Not sure if I should choose that, or if the format matters in a problem like this, can someone explain?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You can start by taking the natural log of both sides
+2%5E%283x%29+=+5+
+ln%28+2%5E%283x%29+%29+=+ln%28+5+%29+
+3x%2Aln%28+2+%29+=+ln%28+5+%29+
+3x+=+ln%28+5+%29+%2F+ln%28+2+%29+
+x+=+ln%28+5+%29+%2F+%28+3%2Aln%28+2+%29%29+
I think you're right and the book is wrong
-------------------
There could be a misprint in the problem.
If the problem were
+2%5E%283%2Fx%29+=+5+, then the answer would be right
