You can put this solution on YOUR website!
My Equation is: Ten plus 6 times a number is equal to 5 less than the number?
Let the number be: x
Ten plus is: +10
6 times a number is: 6x
is equal is: =
5 less than a number is: x-5
Put it all together and you have:
6x+10=x-5
If you need to find out what the number is solve the equation.
6x+10=x-5
6x-x+10=x-x-5
5x+10=-5
5x+10-10=-5-10
5x=-15
5x/5=-15/5
x=-3
The number is -3.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First, write the equation in algebra: Let n = the required number.
10%2B6n+=+n-5 Simplify and solve for n. Subtract n from both sides.
10%2B5n+=+-5 Now subtract 10 from both sides.
5n+=+-15 Finally, divide both sides by 5.
n+=+-3
Check:
Substitute n = -3 into the original equation.
10+%2B+6%28-3%29+=+%28-3%29+-+5 Simplify.
10+%2B+%28-18%29+=+-8
-8+=+-8 It checks!
