Question 685480: Hi - I submitted this word problem earlier today but now realize that some of the information was typed incorrectly. This problem is about electric circuits.
I have the answers but no idea how they were arrived at. I will rewrite the problem here and then the 2 questions I am being asked to answer. Thank you - your website has been extremely helpful.
An electric circuit contains a battery that produces a voltage of 60 volts (v), a resistor with a resistance of 13 ohms and an inductor with an inductance of 5 henrys (H.) Using calculus, it can be shown that the current I=I(t)(in amperes,A) t seconds after the switch is closed is I = 60/13 (I-e^-13/15.)
First question: Use this equation to express the time t as a function of the current I: I = 60-13(I-e^-13/5). The answer is t= -5/13 ln(I-13/60I.)
Second question: After how many seconds is the current 2A? The answer is 0.218s.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First question: Use this equation to express the time t as a function of the current I: I = 60-13(I-e^-13/5). The answer is t= -5/13 ln(I-13/60I.)
-------
I = 60-13(I-e^-13/5)
There's no t in the equation.
------
Second question: After how many seconds is the current 2A? The answer is 0.218s.
