Question 684888: Please help me solve this problem:
4x*1/5+1/R=x*5+R
I tried solving it the following way, but I'm sure if it is correct.
I added the fractions and got:
4x*R+5/5R=x*5+R
I then tried to cancel the fraction by multiplying everything by the fraction and got:
4x*R+5*5R=x*5+R*5+R
=4x%2AR%2B5%2AR%2B5=x%2A25%2B10R%2BR%5E2
=4x%2AR%2B25R=x%2A25%2B10R%2BR%5E2
I then cancelled the xs and got:
4%2AR%2B25R=25%2B10R%2BR%5E2
Then I multiplied the R and 25R by 4 and got:
4R%2B100R%5E2=25%2B10R%2BR%5E2
100R%5E2=25%2B10R-4R%2BR%5E2
100R%5E2-R%5E2=25%2B6R%0D%0A%7B%7B%7B99R%5E2=25%2B6R
99R%5E2-6R-25=0
I am not sure If I should proceed from here because I am not sure if the working above is correct.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4x*1/5+1/R=x*5+R
--------------
4x/5 + 1/r = 5x + r (don't include gibberish)
Solve for what? x or R?
It's 2 variables, only 1 equation.
