Devon purchased tickets to an air show for 7 adults and 2 children. The total cost was $92. The cost of a child's ticket was $8 less than the cost of an adult's ticket. Find the price of an adult's ticket and a child's ticket. Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 7x + 2y = 92 ⇒ where x is adults and y is children
y = x - 8
7x + 2(x-8) = 92 ⇒ substituting y = x-8
7x + 2x - 16 = 92
9x = 92 + 16
9x = 108
x = 12 as cost for adult’s ticket
y = 12-8= 4 as cost for child’s ticket
