Multiply the entire equation by 4x+4, which is 4(x+1) to eliminate the fraction

...
2x = -2x + 8x - 12
12 = -2x - 2x + 8x
12= 4x

x%2F%282x+%2B+2%29+=+%28-+2x%29%2F%284x+%2B+4%29+%2B+%282x+-+3%29%2F%28x+%2B+1%29

2x = - 2x + 4(2x - 3) ------ Multiplying by LCD, 4x + 4, or 2(2)(x + 1)
2x = - 2x + 8x - 12
2x + 2x - 8x = - 12
4x - 8x = - 12
- 4x = - 12

x+=+%28-+12%29%2F-4, or highlight_green%28x+=+3%29
