You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If there are 30 children in a class and 3 are absent what is the percentage of absent children and what is the percentage of children present

If you want to do %'s as ratios, then you can think of it as:

part/total = %/100
In this case the part that is absent is 3 and the total is 30, so:
3%2F30=x%2F100
1%2F10=x%2F100
Multiply both sides by 100.
100%281%2F10%29=100x%2F100
100%2F10=x
10=x
The percent of students absent is 10%. That means that 100%-10%=90% were present.
However, if you want practice. The number of students present is 30-3=27. So the proportion you would need to solve is.
27%2F30=x%2F100
Reduce and multiply both sides by 100 to see if you get 90%.
Happy Calculating!!! Hope that helped.
