Question 6803: solve
7x-2(7x-5)+6
Answer by glabow(165) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 7x-2(7x-5)+6 cannot be "solved" since it is not an equation (it is an expression).
However, it can be simplified by doing some of the arithmetic operations.
First you do all operation in groups. There is only one group, (7x-5) which cannot go further since we don't know what value x has.
Next you do all multiplication and division. There is one multiplication, 2(7x-5), which uses the distributed rule that a(b+c)=ab+ac. So the expression becomes
7x-14x+10+6.
Next you do all addition and subtraction.
-7x +16 is all that can be done.
So 7x-2(7x-5)+6 = -7x +16.
