Question 679946: i don't understand what i'm supposed to do, directions say solve each equation use words or set notation to identify equations that have no solution or equations that are true for all real numbers - soooooo confused
#1 is 2(x+4)=4x+5-2x+3
Found 2 solutions by stanbon, ReadingBoosters: Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 2(x+4)=4x+5-2x+3
------
2x+8 = 2x+8
----
True for all possible Real Number values of "x".

Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Two linear equations have been set equivalent
You are solving for x, to find the point where these two lines intersect, the solution of the system of equations.
...
Distribute the 2
2x + 8 = 4x + 5 - 2x + 3
...
Group the x variables on the left
2x + 2x - 4x = 5 + 3 - 8
4x - 4x = 8 - 8
0 = 0
...
This true statement, 0=0, means the solution is true for all real numbers.
...
If y = 2x+8 is a line and y = 4x+5-2x+3 is another line,
they both equate to the same line
y = 2x + 8
y = 4x+5-2x+3 is y = 2x + 8
...
Since they are both the same line, then all points on the line will be a solution, as denoted by the 0=0 result.
...
The lines don't cross each other resulting in one solution, or point of intersection. The lines travel the same path so every point is a point of intersection or a solution.
