Question 678290: Please see if I did this correctly
3(4-y) = 5(y + 2)
12-3y = 5y + 10
12-3y-5y = 5y-5y+10
12+8y = 10
12-12+8y=10-12
8y/8 = -2/8

Y = -1/4

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3(4-y) = 5(y + 2)
12-3y = 5y + 10
12-3y-5y = 5y-5y+10
12+8y = 10 <<<<< ---- You made a mistake here
12-12+8y=10-12
8y/8 = -2/8

It should be

3(4-y) = 5(y + 2)
12-3y = 5y + 10
12-3y-5y = 5y-5y+10
12-8y = 10 <<<<< ---- Notice the change in red ***
12-12-8y=10-12
-8y/(-8) = -2/(-8)

***: The change is very very small since the +8y turned into -8y

So the answer is really y=1%2F4
