Question 677682: Concert tickets cost $25 for the balcony and $40 for the first floor. If the total amount collected for 325 tickets was $10,000 how many of each tickets was sold?
What I did was I put it into a equation.
25x+40y=10,000 I don't know if thats right,
and how to solve it after.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You were correct, but you have 2 unknowns and
only 1 equation. The other equation is:
+x+%2B+y+=+325+
Multiply both sides of this equation by +25+
and subtract from the other equation
+25x+%2B+40y+=+10000+
+-25x+-+25y+=+-8125+
+15y+=+1875+
+y+=+125+
and, since
+x+%2B+y+=+325+
+x+%2B+125+=+325+
+x+=+200+
200 balcony tickets were sold
125 1st floor tickets were sold
