You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A solution of 71% pesticide is to be mixed with a solution of 49% pesticide to form 44 liters of a 51% solution. How much of the 71% solution must you use?
-----------
Amount of 71% solution is "x" liters ; amount of active ingredient = 0.71x liters.
Amount of 49% solution is "44-x" liters: amount of active ingredient= 0.49(
44-x)= 21.56 -0.49x liters.
------------------
Amount of mixture is 44 liters ; amount of active ingrediant is 0.51(44)=22.44 liters.
-----------------
EQUATION:
active + active = active
0.71x + 21.56-0.49x = 22.44
71x+2156 - 49x = 2244
22x=88
x=4liters (amount of 71% solution in the mixture)
