The equation (note that when he gave away 3/4, he has 1/4 left)
t = 3%2F4t + [1%2F3*1%2F4t] + 10
t = 3%2F4t + 1%2F12t + 10
multiply by 12 and cancel the denominators
12t = 3(3t) + 1t + 12(10)
12t = 9t + t + 120
