Let x=amount of water in the tank after 1 minute with both taps open
Tap X fills at the rate of 1/6 tank per min
Tap Y empties at the rate of 1/8 tank per min
When both taps are open at the same time, they fill at the rate of 1/6-1/8= 4/24-3/24 tank per min=1/24 tank per min.
(1/24 tank/min)*1 min=x
x=1/24 tank---------amount of water in tank after 1 min
