Question 674722: Ryan and his father share a birthday, so they share a cake. When Ryan was 6 his father said " since I am 30 I should get 30/36 of the cake, and you should get 6/36 or 1/6 of the cake." Ryan said " so next year I would get 7/38 of the cake right?" His father answered "yes that's the idea. Every year we can split it according to our ages." What will Ryan's age be when he gets 1/3 of the cake? So I figured out rayan will be 24, his father will be 48, and there will be 72 total pieces of cake. I need to write an equation. Thanks for your help.
