Question 672311: I have this problem and I dont see how the answer book got the answer of -1. I am working on finding the slope of lines. This is the problem: 2x+2y+1=0.
I cancel oout the 2y by divinding by 2 all aound. I come up with y=-x-1/2. My points are (0,-1/2) which I see then the answer book says (1,-3/2) which I dont see how they got that for the second point. Can you explain it to me. thank you!

Hi,
2x+2y+1=0 ⇒ y+=+-x+-+1%2F2 Yes. Good work.
IF x = 1 ⇒ y+=+-%281%29-1%2F2+=+-3%2F2
Thus the listing for the (x,y) ordered pair (1,-3/2)
