Question 672200: Find all the zeros of each equation.
x^3 – x^2 + 5x – 5 = 0
Can you help I can't quite seem to figure this out. Answer by lwsshak3(11628) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Find all the zeros of each equation.
x^3 – x^2 + 5x – 5 = 0
when you have more than 3 terms, try factoring by grouping:
x^3 – x^2 + 5x – 5 = 0
x^2(x-1)+5(x–1) = 0
(x-1)(x^2+5)=0
x-1=0
x=1
or
x^2+5=0
x^2=-5
x=±√-5=±√5 i
zeros: 1, -√5 i, √5 i (one real root and a pair of non-real roots)
