Question 671074: Hello,
I need help with this homework problem due this Thursday:
Let x=8sinø in the expression sqrt(64-x^2). Simplify.
So, the expression would be sqrt(64-64sin^2ø) I think. It seems to me that it's quite simplified as it is, but the back of the textbook holding this problem tells otherwise. it states that the answer is 8IcosøI. Where does this absolute value sign and cosø come in and why?
I would really appreciate some clarification.
Thank you!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x=8sin in the expression sqrt(64-x^2). Simplify.
√(64-x^2)
=√(64-64sin^2ø)
=√64(1-sin^2ø)
=√(64cos^2ø)
=8cosø
I don't know why the absolute sign is in the answer(8|cosø|)
