...
Isolate y
8y = -3x + 7%2F5
...
Divide both sides by 8
y = -3%2F8x + %287%2F5%29%2F8
...
Dividing is the same a multiplying the inverse, so
y = -3%2F8x + %287%2F5%29%281%2F8%29
...
therefore,
y = -3%2F8x + 7%2F40
...
where 7%2F40 is the y intercept
