Well...you got it almost right!
x+=+4y-6 Add 6 to both sides.
x%2B6+=+4y Now divide both sides by 4.
x%2F4%2B6%2F4+=+y Simplify.
y+=+%281%2F4%29x+%2B+3%2F2 or, if you like the decimals.
y+=+0.25x+%2B+1.5
