Question 668708: Please help me with question: For a certain integer, seven more than the integer is equal to five more than three times the same integer. What is the integer? I have already tried this problem:
C= certain integer - C +7= 3c+5
Combine like terms: subtract 1c on both sides
7=2c+5
Subtract five on both sides
2=2c
Divide by 2c on both sides
C=1

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Everything looks right to me.
c+7 = 3c+5
2 = 2c
c = 1
It's entirely possible that you are correct and whatever you're checking against is wrong.

1 + 7 = 3(1) + 5
8 = 8
