Question 668459: Lea had $134, and Drew had $180. After both of them spent an equal amount of money shopping, Drew had 3 times as much money as Lea. How much did each of them spend?
I thought the equation would look like this:
+180-x=3%28134-x%29
but when I went to check x, it just looked all wrong.

Hi,
Lea had $134, and Drew had $180. After both of them spent an equal amount of moneyhighlight%28x%29 shopping,
Drew had 3 times as much money as Lea.
Translate into an equation:
+180-x=3%28134-x%29 ||Yes, good work.
2x = 3%2A134-180 = 222
x = $111
and..
69+=+3%2A23
