You can put this solution on YOUR website!

:The ratio of the amount of money Carl has to the amount of money Donald has 7:3.
Let x = amt of $ Carl has, then (3/7)x = amt of $ Donald has.
:
If Carl gives David $20, the two will then have equal amounts.
x - 20 = (3/7)x + 20
x - (3/7)x = 20 + 20
(4/7)x = 40
x = 40 * 7/4
x = 10 * 7
x = $70 is Carl's amt, Donald's amt = (3/7)70 = $30
:
Find the equal amount that each one has.
70 - 20 = 30 + 20
50 = 50

The ratio of the amount of money Carl has to the amount of money Donald has 7:3. If Carl gives David $20, the two will then have equal amounts. Find the equal amount that each one has.
---------------
Let Carl have 7x dollars.
Then Donald has 3x dollars.
EQUATION:
7x-20=3x
4x=20
x=5
Carl has 7x=7*5=35 dollars
Donald has 3x=3*5=15 dollars
