Her half indicates that to find the treasure, one must get to Castle Rock, walk x paces to the north, and then walk 2x + 4 paces to the east. If you go paces north of Castle Rock and then turn and go paces east from that point, then you have described the two legs of a right triangle. The other piece of the puzzle, must be the measure of the hypotenuse, so you know that the treasure must have been buried by that bloodthirsty swashbuckler (how does one buckle a swash, anyway?)
