If the lengths of the legs in a right triangle are 7 and 8, what is the approximate length of the hypotenuse?

c+=+sqrt%28113%29

Pythagorean Theorem is what you should use here.
For a right triangle which has legs a,b and hypotenuse c,
a^2 + b^2 = c^2 always.

In this case we are given a=7 and b=8.
7^2 + 8^2 = c^2
c+=+sqrt%287%5E2+%2B+8%5E2%29+=+sqrt%2849%2B64%29+=+sqrt%28113%29+=+10.6
Also, just a side note:
You could have easily figured this problem out just by noticing that the hypotenuse is the longest side and that all the other answer choices do not exceed the leg sides. That is 7 and 8 are sides that would be the longest in the first 3. Still, Pythagorean THM gives you the exact answer.

C=√A^2+B^2=√7^2+8^2
=√49+64====√113
