Question 666122: If you have a greater than or less than problem that involves sloping, is it when the greater than or less than sign is underlined or not underlined that the line on the graph is dotted or solid?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! When the inequality is underlined, that means: or equal to.
In terms of graphing inequalities, if the line is solid, that means that any point that you pick on that line satisfies as a solution. If you were graphing , you would first graph y=2x+3. Since it is less than or equal to, any point on the line y=2x+3 (such as (2,7)) would be acceptable. Hence, we illustrate that by leaving the line solid. If it was broken, that would indicate that a solution on that line is unacceptable for the problem.
In short, underline = solid, not underlined = dotted.
