This is just an example,
According to Southern Gas and Electric, the demand for electricity (in magawatts) in year t is approximately:
D=300t+600
with t=0 corresponding to the year 2000.
This equation is in slope-intercept form: highlight%28y=mx%2Bb%29, where b=y-intercept and m=slope. Our y is D and x is t, but it works the same way.
The slope of my made up example is 300, that stands for the rate of increase of the demand for electricity per year after the year 2000.
