Find perfect root factors of the numbers under the root - in this case they have to be perfect fourth root factors. 486 is 6*81 and 81 = 3*3*3*3 so pull out the 3 and 3*4throot(486) becomes 6*4throot(6).


32 is 2*16, and 16 is 2*2*2*2 so 3*4throot(32) = 3*2*4throot(2) = 6*4throot(2).


Add like terms.


6*4throot(6)+4*4throot(2)
