The period of the tangent function is
+pi+ radians. This would also be the
period of the minus tangent function
+2x+=+0+
+x+=+0+
and
+2x+=+pi+
+x+=+pi%2F2+
and
+2x+=+2%2Api+
+x+=+pi+

From x=0 to x=pi/4,
-tan(2x) = minus

from x=pi/4 to pi/2
-tan(2x) = positive
------------------
from x=pi/2 to 3*pi/4
-tan(2x) = minus

from x= 3*pi/4 to pi
-tan(2x) = positive

So it takes x +pi%2F4+%2B+pi%2F4+=+pi%2F2+
radians to make a complete period
