Use the point-slope form of an equation of a line:

where are the coordinates of the given point and is the given slope. Then use normal algebraic procedures, i.e. adding equal quantities to both sides and multiplying both sides by equal quantities to arrange the equation into standard form. Note: some authors demand that the coefficients in an equation in standard form be integers, other authors have no such restriction on their definition. Check with your teacher/professor/instructor and text book as to the exact definition of Standard Form.
