x^2+4x+c

To find the value of c that makes x%5E2+%2B+4x+%2B+c a perfect square, just take the coefficient of the x-term (4), divide it by 2 and then square the result.
%284%2F2%29%5E2+=+4
So, the trinomial becomes: x%5E2+%2B+4x+%2B+4
Now this factors into: %28x+%2B+2%29%28x+%2B+2%29 or %28x+%2B+2%29%5E2
