adding the first digits we get
1's place: 4+6 which is 12 in base 8 so we carry the 1 and keep the 2
for 8's place: 7+2+1 which again is 12 in base 8
for 64's place: 3+5+1 which is 11 in base 8
so our number is:
1122 in base 8
