x%2F6-x%2F8=1. You need the lowest number that both 6 and 8 "will go into"
This is 24, sox%2F6 is the same as4x%2F24 andx%2F8 is3x%2F24
Rewrite your equation
4x%2F24-3x%2F24=1 which can be simplified to:
%284x-3x%29%2F24=1. Multiply both sides by 24 to give
4x-3x=24
x=24
Plug this into original equation to check
24%2F6+-+24%2F8=1
4-3=1
correct!
